Science 2: Week 3

 This week in our lab, we conducted an investigation using an egg. The purpose was to focus on the surface of the classroom so we could use the egg to act as a student and we used a bowl filled with various materials as our playground surface. 

How can I relate this to what I already knew:  

We had to remember that gravity would play a role in the experiment and prepare ourselves on what that would look like. 

Questions: a question that I had after this lab was, how would we know if the students were prepared enough to have the background information to conduct this experiment successfully?

Science 2: Week 2

 This week in our lab, we focused on swings. We conducted an investigation of does a longer or shorter chain make a swing go back and forth faster? We concluded the short chain went faster, but the long went higher up in the air. We also learned about how force/gravity plays a role in speeds and outcomes of equipment.

How can I relate this to what I already knew: 

Before the lab we knew what it was like to swing on a swing, and some factors that affect, speed or ability to swing. We applied to knowledge we already had from her younger years to infer and best set up our experiment in lab.

Questions: I did not have any questions about our lab this week.

Science 2: Week 1

 This week in our lab, we really delved into various elements of playgrounds exploring the best types of slides, the factors influencing our designs, the surface material used and many other components of elementary school playgrounds.

How can I relate this to what I already knew:  

We were all able to connect back to our early elementary school playgrounds and remember what factors and characteristics of playgrounds there are and what factors can affect these conditions. Where are the conditions safe or not safe and what can we do to better improve playground conditions

Questions: I did not have any questions about our lab this week.
